The Move In.

In my previous post I talked about "5 Things They Don't Tell You About Moving In Together." I wanted to take a step further in today's post to tell you a more detailed account of things I did and have noticed about the days following the move in with my ex (almost) husband.

When we were dating and before we got married my ex (almost) husband was all about getting married after we graduated college and started a career. He was in school to become a physical therapist and it would have taken more than 5 years to complete all the schooling, etc. that he needed to start a career.

... then less than 6 months later we found out that I was pregnant with my now 3 year old... and he proposed. THIS was a red flag for my parents... why I did not listen? I don't know.

I honestly don't even remember them saying anything about it.

Other before we were married things I knew but never addressed... I knew he was a cheater. I found videos, images, text messages, etc. on his p…

10 Free/Cheap Date Night Ideas!

When was the last time you had a date night?

Date night is a really important part of any relationship. It is a time to relax, unwind and enjoy each others company away from other distractions.
The world is so caught up in what we have to do next, technology and do, do, do, do more... that we forget about our spouse. When that happens things change and we feel disconnected from each other and ourselves.

So while we don't need to find a babysitter, go out, spend money and make big plans every single week. It is important for a healthy couples to have frequent date nights. Some of which you can do at home, for very little or no money at all.

Here are my top 10 favorite cheap/free date night ideas:

1. Go through a list of questions and go back and forth answering them. The questions can be about childhood memories, likes, dislikes, dreams or goals. The best part is you can stay home, go for a walk at the park, along the beach, or even go on a hike through a trail while you talk.

2. Go to consignment stores like Goodwill and find an outfit for your spouse. You can set a limit on the amount of money each of you is allowed to spend on the other. Make the outfits fun and then dress up in them after you buy and go walk around town in them. Take it a step further and go out to eat an appetizer or have a drink at the bar.

3. Go on an Alphabet Scavenger Hunt! Challenge yourselves to go out together (maybe with a time limit) and pick a pose to do in front of an object, sign, etc that starts with each letter from A-Z.

4. Go to a music or record store. Browse the shelves and listen to music together.

5. Try our geocaching. If you have never heard of it-- you should look into it. It is quite fun and free! It is similar to a treasure hunt.

6. Watch the sunset. Anywhere you would like.

7. Walk through the downtown area of your town and browse the boutiques and stores there.

8. Stay at home and challenge each other to a video game competition.

9. Visit a hobby store and pick out a project you can both do together. A puzzle, painting, model car, scrapbook, etc.

10. and last, but not least. Rent a movie from Redbox, buy cheap snacks and sit on the couch and snuggle up while you watch a new movie and snack on your favorite sweet and salty treats.

Just because you can't afford date night doesn't mean you can't have one! Surprise your spouse with something fun and creative and see where the night takes you.

What ideas for free or cheap date nights do you have?
